'Men Can Cook for Kids' tasting event at King's Daughters Sunday

Plainfield's King's Daughters Day School is the site of Sunday's international cuisine tasting event, "Men Can Cook for Kids."

Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers and just plain friends of Plainfield's oldest preschool -- all of them men -- have come together to offer a truly sumptuous international taste treat.

The school's executive director, Valeria Erdosi-Mehaffey, and development director, Gina Sideris, shared the menu with me earlier this week.

Attendees will be able to sample from FOUR exciting menus --
  • Soul Soothing
Pulled Pork BBQ, Fire-grilled Beef, Collards, Macaroni & Cheese, Cornbread, Sweet Potato Pie
  • Caribbean Cravings
Jerk Chicken, Oxtails, Red Beans, Cole Slaw, Ice Cream and Waffles
  • Sabor Latino
Isabela Seafood Delight Soup, Cabrito en Fricase (Goat Stew), Paella, Arroz con Pillo, Chicken Enchilada
  • Global Gastronomy
Cajun Shrimp, Hot Wings, Bok Choy with Duck, Inside-out Ravioli, Risotto, Roasted Veggie Roll-ups, Spaetzle, Pasta and Gelatin Salads, Assorted Pies and Chocolate Pretzels
Proceeds from the event benefit the School's charitable mission of care and education programs for young children. Tickets ($45/adult, $25/kids) are available at the door.
