Rally to save Muhlenberg

A "Save Muhlenberg Hospital" rally is slated for Saturday at noon. The Plainfield branch of People's Organization for Progess is sponsoring the event to be held at the corner of Randolph Road and Park Avenue.

The flyer announcing the rally was circulating in the community and among hospital staffers on Wednesday.

With 1,100 employess, Muhlenberg RMC is one of Plainfield's top two employers. Closing the hospital would have a serious long-term economic impact on the community through the loss of jobs and health-related professional offices.

Solaris Health Systems, Muhlenberg's corporate parent, had announced earlier that it plans to file a request for a 'certificate of need'
by the beginning of March. Granting of the certificate by the state would allow it to shut down the facility withing about six months.

For more information on the rally, contact POP at (908) 731-1518.

I'm trying to understand the purpose of this rally now that the "horse has left the stable".This type of community reaction should have occurred when news was first heard about a potential sale late last year. Now the community can use this sad situation to help the rest of the state by bringing the rally/protest to Trenton. That effort would hopefully bring awareness to others about the huge void of financial support and leadership coming from Trenton , both of which are necessary to fix our very broken healthcare system.Unless we put our efforts to that greater cause , a rally in Plainfield on Saturday will be "too little , too late".

the issue is what was the fiscal condition of jfk from the outset, as well how much/many of the endowments have been stolen by jfk? the main montra from jfk has been how much money our hospital has cost them. well if it's cost so much how can/could jfk purchase the multiplex building across the street from jfk, build a new parking lot, expand the e.r. and have plans for a new 40 plus bed facility? where did the funds materialize for the above? furthermore, has/did jfk file/been filing the required paperwork mandated by the state in order to secure funding for our hospital? seems like they were cited/fined for not doing so...last count they have not since 2005! did they have the authorized certificate of need approved before closing/moving dept. from our hospital? was the land on woodland ave., which was left to our hospital but now has a new housing community being built, was that looked into by the proper authorities? NO! this action to close our hospital began years ago but only went public last year why? during the last few rallies we have seen news 9, news 12, but that evening no coverage aired! but news 12 ran the story of our hospital closing. I have personally called to find out what was the problem and you know they sounded alot like the people from jfk! it is essential that the state attorney general look into this from the begining to the present. last of all shame on all the surrounding communities that have just sat by and said as well as did absolutely nothing!
