As Plainfield remembers all that Charles Nelson did for his community -- as a veteran, as a churchman, but most especially as the champion of a city-owned center for Plainfield's senior citizens, a thought comes to me.
What could be a more appropriate way for the city to honor his contribution to the new Senior Center than by letting it be a living memorial by naming it after him.
Why not?

Dan, What a great IDEA!! I have met Mr. Nelson as the Center's advocate. He was brilliant.
However, I fear that the naming might be predestined by one or two influential elected officials in the City. Say it ain't so.
Oh that's perfect! "The Charles Nelson Senior Center." Let's get buttons! Besides being terribly appropriate, it would make it difficult for the politicos referenced in the above comment to try to wedge their name/s onto it. Hooray!
This would be a wonderful way of honoring Charles's hard work and dedication to the city. He was a senior AND a veteran--what better choice could there be?
