Legal notice of the PMUA's 'retreat'.

The Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority had a 'retreat' yesterday at the Borgata in Atlantic City, according to the special notice in a local paper supplied by a reader (see scan above).
This would have been for the Board of Commissioners and executive staff, natch. The purpose stated in the ad is 'to discuss operational strategies and budget objectives in preparation for the coming CY2010'.
Why schedule a 'retreat' in Atlantic City for 9 AM on the day the NJ League of Municipalities 94th Annual Conference opens?
An opportunity for a twofer at the ratepayers' expense?
Those following the PMUA may want to OPRA the meeting's agenda and minutes.
The PMUA's 'retreat' center, The Borgata.
Not to mention the hotel and expense records for the 'retreat' (you will note it's at the upscale and expensive Borgata and not at a more recession-appropriate venue like the Super 8 Atlantic City, just as close to the Convention Center).
All the more interesting as today's Courier carries a story of the PMUA's threatening to pass along to ratepayers the approximately $400,000 in uncollected debts of Connolly Properties if the bankruptcy court won't let the PMUA sell liens on the properties (see here).

How is it that they think they can stay at the Borgata?? Why can't they have the retreat at their conference space in Plainfield? This smells like Eric and the crew don't care about what the ratepayers think, as long as they can drink and eat and mention the word "utilities" once in a while. This is unbelievable. Which staff and board members are on this retreat? What is the per diem? Why can't they go to AC and return the same day?
This administration is still living in the past, as if they have a mandate to continue destroying Plainfield and putting us more in the hole. I hope the people who voted for this mayor get what they deserve. Unfortunately, those of us who knew better will also get the same treatment as they do.
Do we know for sure that they are staying overnight?
Either way, the unmitigated gall of them to do this in the midst of major discontent among their captive clientele is mind-boggling! Tone-deaf much?
Disband the PMUA NOW!!!

This is typical PMUA. The bills listing for this event will be interesting. There is a lot more where this comes from. Don't you just love how they pretend to be high rollers on our dime? If you want to go to Atlantic City, don't you pay your own way? They are just scrubs.
The employees and board members should pay their own way to AC.They can have a meeting here in Plainfield to discuss how they are going to EAT & DRINK on the tax payers tab, they don't have to go all the way to AC for that! Are they taking Don Davis along? I here they have a new theme song, DONT BE TARDY FOR THE PARTY !
Maybe the residents of Plainfield should hire a lawyer to setup an escrow account, instead of paying the PMUA you pay the escrow account. If enough people buy into this it would have a crippling effect on the PMUA's ability to meet payroll and pay bills maybe then they will listen, hit them like they hit us .....in the pocketbook...
I am a state employee. The last time I had to make a presentation at a conference at AC, I left at 6:45 and drove down. After I was finished at 12, I drove back to my office and finished my work day. My employer (the state or you) would not have paid for an overnight in any event. Is the PMUA held to the same standard as the State?
Whether they stay for the full day or half day they will most likely get their per diem travel allowances like they did for Oakland. This is a travesty! Now they are talking about increasing rates. When will it end?
