I was wrong when I said there was only one other home with similarly exuberant brickwork. I had in mind the carriage house of railroad baron Johnston's estate, which still stands on East Front Street.
Reader Bill Garrett pointed out the large brick Victorian in the 700-block of Madison Avenue (immediately behind United Family Services). This does indeed have some fancy brickwork, and is the only example I am aware of in Plainfield with the 'Turkish' touches which were all the rage in the 1880s.
