Portraitist will sketch your Valentine (or you) at Swain's Saturday

A portrait by Richard Scarpa.
Valentine's Day is coming, and Plainfield's Swain Galleries is coming to your aid.

Tomorrow only, portraitist Richard Scarpa will be on hand at the gallery to sketch your favorite Valentine (or yourself) in a live, approximately one-hour sitting, at the end of which you will have a memorable take-along portrait.

Scarpa, a graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, specializes in portraits -- both paintings and drawings. You can preview his work on his website (see here). He has studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Studio Escalier in France.

Swain Galleries has served art patrons of Plainfield and New Jersey for 142 years, and is today able managed by fourth-generation representative Ann Swain.

Because the sittings will take approximately one hour, reservations must be made in advance by calling Swain Galleries at (908) 756-1707, where Ann Swain will be happy to help you and answer questions about pricing (the sketches start at $150).

Did I forget to mention you can get your sketch framed at Swain's?

Ann will be more than happy to show you the wide range of framing options available.
