National Night Out 2011: Slideshow

Freeholder Linda Carter, who helped coordinate the event,
chats with Municipal Clerk 'AJ' Jalloh.

Councilor Rebecca Williams chats with Netherwood Heights
Neighbors member Louise Colodne.

Community groups presented information tables.

The food booth was busy all night.

Plainfielders celebrated National Night Out 2011 last evening in the plaza in front of City Hall.

With Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs as emcee and NNO coordinator Freedholder Linda Carter working the crowd a crowd of two hundred or so adults and children enjoyed free hot dogs, live music and entertainment, information tables by community groups and block associations, and a movie at dusk.

Police officers and firefighters mingled freely with the crowd, a reminder that one of the goals of the nationwide event is to develop closer relations between communities and the police and fire employees who protect and defend them.

Besides the Mayor and Freeholder Carter, Councilors Rebecca Williams and Adrian Mapp were spotted enjoying themselves with constituents.

Aside: The inflatable and portable movie screen, which I first noticed last summer, looks to be one of the wisest equipment purchases of recent years.

We certainly have our issues, but there is not a better place to live than Plainfield.
