Tonight's budget hearing includes Information Technology

Plainfield's City Council meets for its planned final budget hearing tonight.

On tap will be the Divisions that fall under Director Al Restaino's Department of Administration and Finance: Tax Assessor and Collector, Audit & Control, Purchasing, Personnel and Information Technology; as well as the Municipal Clerk's office.

Restaino has been somewhat of a deer in the headlights during previous budget sessions, being unable to answer Council questions as well as apologetic over leaving the Library uninformed about the budget proces and other lapses.

Restaino is likely to face close questioning about the proposed tripling of the Information Technology budget -- especially in the light of Mayor Robinson-Briggs' proposal for draconian cuts to Library financing on which I previously reported (see here).

If there is no need for further (unplanned) hearings, the Council is expected to take up its proposed amendments to the CY2012 budget next Monday, May 15.
