LWV forum honoring Herb Green set for Wednesday

Forum on education honors late Herb Green.

Plainfield's League of Women Voters is offering its first annual Herbert Green Forum on Education Wednesday evening. Herb, as he was known to all, was a tireless advocate for effective and well-funded public education as well as a longtime supporter (and past president) of the local LWV chapter. Besides serving on the Plainfield Board of Education, Herb held several positions in PTAs throughout the District. This forum is the League's way of recognizing Herb's life and contributions by bringing noted voices in education to Plainfield annually.

The debut forum features Dr. Arnold L. Glass, who is a professor of cognitive psychology at Rutgers University and heads the university's Learning and Memory Laboratory. Dr. Glass is widely published in journals in his field, including the American Journal of Psychology, The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, and Memory and Cognition. Refreshments will be served following Dr. Glass' talk.

The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
