The Cowardly Lion's sample ballot arrives in the mail

Comedian Bert Lahr played the Cowardly Lion in the 1939 version of
The Wizard of Oz. Gov. Christie currently stars in the role.

Plainfield
's postal carriers delivered the Cowardly Lion's sample ballot Thursday for the special Primary Election for the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Frank Lautenberg.

No, the Cowardly Lion reference is not to any of the four Democratic or two Republican candidates on the sample ballot. It is to Gov. Chris Christie, who was so afraid to run on the same November ballot as front-runner Cory Booker (even though they are running for DIFFERENT offices) that he literally spared no expense in avoiding a pairing with the popular Newark mayor who also has celebrity status.

The Cowardly Lion is costing New Jersey taxpayers $12 million for the face-saving special statewide Senate election in October.

The Primary is on Tuesday, August 13, and you can view the sample ballot online here if yours did not arrive in the mail.

Make up your mind. On any given day, Christie is a bully. Now's he a coward? Ha.
