Saturday: Lunch honors Rebecca, Artist reception, 12th Night Dinner

is one of three events this Saturday.

If Plainfielders need a sign that winter is coming to an end, consider three big events slated for this Saturday: an awards lunch  honoring Councilor Rebecca Williams, an artist reception at the Library, and the VWB District's Twelfth Night Progressive Dinner.

AWARDS LUNCHEON HONORS REBECCA WILLIAMS

Councilor Rebecca Williams is one of several Plainfielders to be honored for their contributions to the community at a luncheon this Saturday.

The lunch is hosted by the United Plainfield CDC, a nonprofit unit of the United Church of Christ-Congregational. The awards luncheon is from Noon to 3:00 PM Saturday in the parish hall of the church. Tickets are $60 per person and may be reserved by calling the church office at (908) 755-8658.

The United Church of Christ-Congregational is at 220 West 7th Street at the corner of Madison Avenue. Parking available in the church lot on Madison Avenue or on the street.

ARTIST RECEPTION AT LIBRARY

The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library are hosting an artist's reception for photographer Henry F. Kielblock, whose exhibit of photographs from Kenya is currently on display in the Anne Louise Davis Gallery. See my earlier post on the exhibit here.

The reception will be from 1:00 - 3:00 PM in the Gallery. The show is available for viewing during regular library hours and will be on display through March 29.

The Plainfield Public Library is at Park Avenue and West 8th Street and is an accessible facility. Parking is available in the 8th and 9th Street lots.

VAN WYCK BROOKS '12th NIGHT DINNER'

The Van Wyck Brooks Historic District is renowned for its annual Twelfth Night Progressive Dinner, always a sold-out January event. This year, the weather intervened, causing the dinner to be rescheduled to this weekend.

Hosted by members of the District, guests move from house to house to enjoy several courses of a grand dinner, ending at the last home with cordials and conversation. The event is always an opportunity to have fun at a dressy evening.

Though tickets go quickly, you may still be able to make a reservation. Tickets are $30 per person for VWB members, $40 for non-members. To check availability, contact Larry Quirk at QMAN56@comcast.net. The meal begins with appetizers at 6:00 PM at 925 Madison Avenue. Admission with ticket or reservations only; no walk-ins.
