Reed Realty Open House celebrates ERA rebranding

ERA logos, the old ... and the new.

Plainfield real estate legend Carl Reed invites all to the unveiling of ERA's new logo, uniforms and service standards on Tuesday, October 14, at 9:30 AM at ERA Reed Realty, Evergreen and Park Avenues (across from Plainfield High School).

ERA is one of the nation's largest and oldest franchise real estate operations. When I went to work for Burgdorff Realtors in 1986 (later to become Burgdorff ERA), ERA was the market leader as an early adopter of technology in assisting and promoting real estate sales. In fact, ERA stood for Electronic Realty Associates, if I remember correctly.

At that time there were several ERA as well as Century 21 franchisees in Plainfield.

Lydia Sanchez Flagg's ERA Queen City began in a small house on South Avenue across from Plainwood Square Park, and then moved to Scotch Plains. ERA Willard Agency was in the Atlas Building on West 7th Street; Mel Willard has since retired and left the area.

At that time, the main Century 21 offices were John Campbell (next door to ERA Reed) and J.J. Schwartz (next to Scott Drugs on East 7th Street). J.J. Schwartz closed up shop years ago and John Campbell recently gave up the Centruy 21 franchise and moved to a new location on Park Avenue.

Only ERA Reed has remained open and in its original location all these years. Over the years, Carl Reed's leadership has turned the agency into a Plainfield real estate powerhouse, both in residential real estate sales, but also in commercial real estate and a large and profitable property management operation.

Come on out and visit with Carl and the ERA Reed team, learn about the ERA rebranding program and enjoy some light refreshments.

Parking available in ERA Reed's lot and on the street.
