Looking at Plainfield through the Pope's eyes

Pope Francis, more than anyone thought they were getting?
(Image, Religion News Service.)

Pope Francis caused a stir shortly before Christmas when he suggested in his pre-Christmas remarks to the Curia -- the Vatican's administrative leadership -- that they needed to make a serious examination of conscience in preparation for celebrating the Lord's birth.

Looking over Francis' list of fifteen 'ailments', it strikes me how apt such an examination can be for any bureaucratically structured organization -- from local government to transnational corporation.

The value lies not only in the critique the Pope offers, but in his suggested remedies.

I think we all could benefit from a few moments (or more) reflection on the Pope's list.

You can read a summarized version here -- call it Francis Lite.

And a Happy New Year to all.
