Council takes up animal abuse, immigrant driving privileges

Plainfield City Council took on two issues with unanimity, equanimity and magnanimity Monday evening, which is more than can be said for much of the rest of the meeting.

With large groups of supporters in the Council chambers, the Council unanimously approved the first reading of an amended animal welfare ordinance that would set conditions under which pets may be kept outdoors. Council also unanimously approved a resolution urging the Legislature to pass pending legislation granting undocumented immigrants driving privileges in New Jersey.

For a detailed account of these actions, see Bernice's reportage here (on animal welfare) and here (on driving privileges).
