Free NJSO Brass Concert Saturday at Library Park

Summer brass ensemble concerts are an old American tradition.

A brass ensemble from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will perform Saturday afternoon at Plainfield's Library Park in a free outdoor summer concert. The event gets under way at 3:00 PM.

Featuring some of New Jersey's finest musicians, the concert will highlight the role of brass instruments in the music of many cultures. Saturday's selections will include such varied music as a brass rendition of Hava Nagila and John Philip Sousa's famous Washington Post March.

(Many will remember that Sousa himself once performed this work at a concert in Plainfield.)

Bring along a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy this outdoor treat, made possible by the generous contribution of the PSEG Foundation.

If it rains, the concert will take place in the Parish Hall of the First Unitarian Society (FUSP) at 724 Park Avenue, just around the corner from the park.
