Steve Gallon in the news again

Can you guess where former Plainfield schools super Steve Gallon has now turned up?

Former Plainfield schools superintendent Steve Gallon is in the news again. A story that popped up in my inbox Sunday is datelined Chattanooga, Tenn., where Gallon's Tri-Star Leadership organization has a contract with one of the city's charter schools.

After returning to Florida, Gallon eventually formed Tri-Star (see their website here) as an organization that took on management contracts with several South Florida charter schools.

The last I knew, two of the the three schools he managed had gone under, but the third was still struggling.

The Chattanooga story updates us: evidently the third school has also now gone out of business. It also says Tri-Star claims to be working in eight states -- something which is not clear on Tri-Star's website.

Those familiar with the Plainfield saga will find the Chattanooga writeup of that story a bit garbled.

Under Gallon's leadership, Tri-Star was accused in Florida of financial irregularities -- including giving salary increases to his favorites without the charter board's approval -- that led several other contractors to sever any ties with those charter schools.

You can read the full story in the Chattanooga Times Free Press here.

The Chattanooga folks have evidently kept him away from their cash-box and have no complaints about the work he is currently performing.
