Correction: The presentation is in the Anne Louise Davis Room of the Plainfield Public Library, not City Hall Library as originally posted. -- Dan

Residents of Plainfield's First Ward in particular will be interested in the presentation on updating Plainfield's flood maps this evening at City Hall Library.

Representatives of Hatch Mott McDonald, the engineering consulting firm, will make a presentation on Plainfield's flood zones, to be folllowed by a period for public questions.

If and when Plainfield's flood maps are updated and a remediation plan put in place, residents subject to the flood insurance requirement will be eligible for rate reductions. Some may even be freed from the flood insurance requirement altogether.

Plainfield's current flood zone map shows a great deal of the First Ward as included, along with properties that are near the (now underground) Cedar Brook floodway.

The meeting gets under way at 7:00 PM tonight in the Anne Louise Davis Room of the Plainfield Public Library, Park Avenue at West 8th Street.
