State wants to demolish Woodland School, replace it

New school would be where playing fields are now,
at left of triangular property.

Plainfield Planning Board chairman Ron Scott Bey advised the board at its Thursday meeting that the state has been in touch with the City concerning its plan to demolish the Woodland School and replace it with a new building sited on the East 7th Street side of the lot, presently occupied by Maxson School's practice fields.

It seems that the school district was not contacted by the State and knows nothing of the plans.

Scott Bey said that he is asking for a copy of its long-range facilities plan for the site. There should be one either from the District or the state, covering such topics a student population projections and whether neighborhood boundaries need to be adjusted.

If the school district knows nothing of the proposal, it is going to be interesting to see this project unfold.
